Today's readings: in Select from many version in English and other languages for May

From the Old Testament
Samuel explain to the people of Israel, that they should be content to be under God as king rather than man. They picked Saul who had a good beginning. What about us? Do we want God to be king of our lives or men? Saul had a good begining but ended up with his life as a tragedy and waste for the kingdom of God.

From the New Testament
In the miracle of the feeding of five thousand, the people were looking at what was given and not at the Giver. The following day Jesus gave His discourse on Him being the bread of life. Apparently the people did not get neither do we. We go and look for the meaning of life in other place, i.e. to fill our hunger that we forget that He is the Bread of Life.

From Psalms and Proverbs
Here we see in today's passage that the people look at the gift and forgot the Giver. They soon became rebellious.

In Proverbs, isn't that true, that a nation is recognized by its righteousness?
