From the Old Testament
This is famous story of David and Goliath. Application: Note how the armies of Israel and Saul saw Goliath. Note how David saw Goliath from God's perspective. He used God's way of defeating goliath. We may not have Goliaths in our lives but we have sin, affliction, temptation, etc.. Instead of using man's way to solve the problem, we should use God's way. Note how David also remembered how God saved him from situations in the past. We must remember what God has done for us and do things God's way.

Notice how Saul got jealous of David's victory over Goliath. This is going to plague him for the rest of his life. Beware of jealousy.

From the New Testament
Who is Jesus? he is from above he does not need our help and approval, He is from God and is God. Let us reflect on that.

From Psalms and Proverbs
God is great and He is awesome.

In Proverbs, do we know that death is around the corner awaiting each of us, provided that the Lord has not yet returned as yet.

From the Old Testament
Sad commentary on Saul's life! Saul rationalize and sinned, Samuel told him , it is better to obey than sacrifice!' Consequently Saul is replaced by David.

From the New Testament
The soceity is so hypocritical, they were ready to stone the woman, but where was the man? Jesus gave his discourse on Him being the Light of the world. The people of the world are wicked and their sins are exposed when the light shines upon it.

From Psalms and Proverbs
God the Father is talking to God the Son. When Jesus returns, He will come back as a lion. There will not be a second chance to repent of your sins then. When you are under God's judgment, that will be sheer terror. Are you ready to meet Jesus as a Lamb or a Lion?

In Proverbs, Saul wanted to sacrifice but he should have obeyed! We have many people in the church who want to worship (give sacrifice of praise) but they are in disobedience to the will of God.

From the Old Testament
Samuel explain to the people of Israel, that they should be content to be under God as king rather than man. They picked Saul who had a good beginning. What about us? Do we want God to be king of our lives or men? Saul had a good begining but ended up with his life as a tragedy and waste for the kingdom of God.

From the New Testament
In the miracle of the feeding of five thousand, the people were looking at what was given and not at the Giver. The following day Jesus gave His discourse on Him being the bread of life. Apparently the people did not get neither do we. We go and look for the meaning of life in other place, i.e. to fill our hunger that we forget that He is the Bread of Life.

From Psalms and Proverbs
Here we see in today's passage that the people look at the gift and forgot the Giver. They soon became rebellious.

In Proverbs, isn't that true, that a nation is recognized by its righteousness?

From the New Testament
In the miracle of the feeding of five thousand, the people were looking at what was given and not at the Giver. They wanted to make Him king but He withdrew from them. He knew what is in men's heart. What about us? Who do we base our motives, and life on? Is it men or God?

From the Old Testament
Do we have the ear and heart for God like Samuel when he said, 'Speak for thy servant, heareth.'? Do we have the heart like Eli, to recognize that it was god speaking to Samuel, accept the things of God even when they can be difficult in our lives, like the lost of love ones by God afflicting punishment on them?

From the New Testament
Jesus received His authority from God not men. He knew what is in men's heart. What about us? Who do we base our motives, and life on? Is it menor God?

From Psalms and Proverbs
God has shown his mercy upon us daily, even we don't deserve it. Our God is a wonderful God...
In Proverbs, let us be at peace and be content with what we have. Envy cab destroy us.

Old Testament Passage
This is the story of the Levite's concubine who was raped and murdered by the men of Gibeah who belonged to the tribe of Benjamin.

Application, this evil act was not tolerated by God, the eleven tribes declared war on Benjamin because they did not turn over the wicked men. Be careful with your thoughts, words and deeds. You may get away with your action for a while but it will catch up with you. We reap what we sow.

The John 3.22-4.3 passage showed us how John the Baptist reacted to Jesus's popularity. He was humble and realize his station on life. Similarly we should realize who God is and who we are. He is the Almighty God and we are just men, mere mortals whose days are numbered.

Psalm 104 continue to reminds us who God is. He is the the Creator God, all-Powerful all-knowing and wise. The animals depend on Him for their food just as how we depend on Him for our daily bread. God deserves and demand our praise and worship because He deserves it!

The proverbs passage 14.22-4 here we have have the contrast between those who plot good vs. evil. Actions speak louder than words, words are cheap when it is not backed up by actions.

Old Testament Passage
This is the story of Micah, who listened to his mother and made an idol. The plot thickens, he appointed a Levite to be priest to the idol. One thing led to another and the tribe of Benjaminfollowed the advice of the Levite and attack Laish.

Application, a little yeast increases the leaven. Micah compromised humself to this idol and this led to disaster of many people. What about you? if you know right from wrong, do you compromise yourself to do wrong because your comfort zone won't be affected.

The John 3 passage is the key chapter of the Bible. We must be born again! This is not our doing but it is the Spirit of God. We are dead in our sins, it is the Spirit who quickens us to become alive in Jesus Christ.

Psalm 104 reminds us who God is. He is the the Creator God, all-Powerful all-nowing who shows compassion on His creation. When you feel like your life is out of control, come to this passage and meditate upon it.

The proverbs passage show us that when we have money, we have 'friends'. We should be kind to the needy and not despise them.

Today's readings: in Select from many version in English and other languages for May

This is the life of Samson, a judge who lived by impulse and his weakness for eomrn. Yet in this who9le account God had used him to aggravate the Philistines. His downfall was Delilah!

John passage involved Jesus' first miracle changing water into wine. This was a miracle, water, H2O, turned into alcohol. Jesus met the need of this couple by avoidung an embarassing situation (v. 1-11). He went into the Temple with a whip and drove out the money changer. Is this the Jesus that you know? Someone who is indignant about what is going on in God's Temple? He also knew the heart of men and did not entrust himself to men for 'he knew what was in the heart of men (v. 35).

Psalm 103 reminds us who God is. He is a loving yet a just God. We must not separate His love from his righteousness.

The proverbs passage show that we should not be like the quick-tempered man nor the crafty man. We should be the exact oppposite. We should be wuse and not foolish, righteous and not wicked.
