From the Old Testament
This is famous story of David and Goliath. Application: Note how the armies of Israel and Saul saw Goliath. Note how David saw Goliath from God's perspective. He used God's way of defeating goliath. We may not have Goliaths in our lives but we have sin, affliction, temptation, etc.. Instead of using man's way to solve the problem, we should use God's way. Note how David also remembered how God saved him from situations in the past. We must remember what God has done for us and do things God's way.

Notice how Saul got jealous of David's victory over Goliath. This is going to plague him for the rest of his life. Beware of jealousy.

From the New Testament
Who is Jesus? he is from above he does not need our help and approval, He is from God and is God. Let us reflect on that.

From Psalms and Proverbs
God is great and He is awesome.

In Proverbs, do we know that death is around the corner awaiting each of us, provided that the Lord has not yet returned as yet.

From the Old Testament
Sad commentary on Saul's life! Saul rationalize and sinned, Samuel told him , it is better to obey than sacrifice!' Consequently Saul is replaced by David.

From the New Testament
The soceity is so hypocritical, they were ready to stone the woman, but where was the man? Jesus gave his discourse on Him being the Light of the world. The people of the world are wicked and their sins are exposed when the light shines upon it.

From Psalms and Proverbs
God the Father is talking to God the Son. When Jesus returns, He will come back as a lion. There will not be a second chance to repent of your sins then. When you are under God's judgment, that will be sheer terror. Are you ready to meet Jesus as a Lamb or a Lion?

In Proverbs, Saul wanted to sacrifice but he should have obeyed! We have many people in the church who want to worship (give sacrifice of praise) but they are in disobedience to the will of God.

From the Old Testament
Samuel explain to the people of Israel, that they should be content to be under God as king rather than man. They picked Saul who had a good beginning. What about us? Do we want God to be king of our lives or men? Saul had a good begining but ended up with his life as a tragedy and waste for the kingdom of God.

From the New Testament
In the miracle of the feeding of five thousand, the people were looking at what was given and not at the Giver. The following day Jesus gave His discourse on Him being the bread of life. Apparently the people did not get neither do we. We go and look for the meaning of life in other place, i.e. to fill our hunger that we forget that He is the Bread of Life.

From Psalms and Proverbs
Here we see in today's passage that the people look at the gift and forgot the Giver. They soon became rebellious.

In Proverbs, isn't that true, that a nation is recognized by its righteousness?

From the Old Testament
Do we use the things of God like a good luck charm? Do we put our trust in the things that God has given us rather than in God himself? Do we look at God as our Ebenezer, 'God is our helper, so far'?

From the New Testament
In the miracle of the feeding of five thousand, the people were looking at what was given and not at the Giver. They wanted to make Him king but He withdrew from them. He knew what is in men's heart. What about us? Who do we base our motives, and life on? Is it men or God?

From Psalms and Proverbs
Here we see in today's passage that the people look at the gift and forgot the Giver. They soon became rebellious.

In Proverbs, what is your life based on when trouble come?
